New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan has announced a number of social welfare measures for the benefit of the SC, ST and other workers employed with eleven of its PSUs in the country which will be implemented by October this year.
Announcing the decision here today, Mr Paswan said it has been decided to fill up the vacancies of SC/ST catagories in the PSU either by way of direct recruitment or by way of promotions.
Secondly, it has also been decided to give an additional Rs 1,000 per month to all contractual labourers who are employed with the PSU's under the administrative control of the Steel Ministry.
He said it will lead to an addtitional financial burden of Rs 55 crores on these firms.
Apart from this a long pending demand for the merger of 50 per cent Dearness Allowance (DA) with the basic salaries of the workers of SAIL and NMDC has also been approved by the Government, Mr Paswan added.
