SpiceJet honours Vijender Kumar with 'Flying for Life'

New Delhi, August 22 (UNI) The awards and accolades have started pouring in for Vijender Kumar, who clinched the bronze in the middleweight (75 kg) category at the Beijing Olympics today, with SpiceJet Limited honouring him with a special recognition of 'Flying for Life'.

The strapping pugilist from Haryana, who brings home the first-ever Olympic medal for India in boxing, can now travel free on SpiceJet's domestic network all his life.

Announcing the honour, Samyukth Sridharan, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet Limited said,''This has been an amazing Olympics for us. We have three Indians winning the coveted medals in different disciplines. This will certainly encourage the youth of India to look at various sports as options for the future.'' ''We are delighted to welcome Vijender into our family of Spicejetters by offering him unlimited free personal travel for life along with Abhinav Bindra and Sushil Kumar,'' Sridharan stated.

He further said sportsmen like Vijender, Sushil and Abhinav have made the country proud and will help more people to focus on their dream.

Abhinav, who became the first-ever Indian to win an individual event -- Men's 10m Air Rifle -- in the Olympics, was the first person who was awarded the 'Flying for Life' by SpiceJet.

Sushil, freestyle wrestler and bronze medalist was the second one to have been given this special recognition.
