Special poojas for success of Chiranjeevi's party

Kancheepuram, Aug 22 (UNI) Special poojas in the form of ''Saha Chandi Homam' were performed at the world famous Kamatchi Amman temple here today, for the success of Telugu mega star Chiranjeevi's political party, which is to be launched in Tirupati on August 26.

As part of the 'Homam', 50 special poojas were performed for the welfare of his party.

A close family friend of Chiranjeevi from Visakhapatnam performed the 'Homam' on the actor's behalf, employing 35 senior Vedic pundits.

A large number of Chiranjeevi's fans, who also turned up at the temple from Andhra Pradesh were disappointed as the actor could not make it.

However, the actor, who was expected to participate in the 'Homam' could not do so as he was engaged in an important function in Hyderabad.

He is to announce the name of the party at a public meeting in Tirupati. The actor will also be announcing the policies of his party, besides the flag.

SCs, others to own houses on shamalat land in Punjab

Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) Punjab Government has decided to allot the ownership of pre-occupied part of Shamlat land to Scheduled Castes and Vimakut Jatis including Bajigars, who had constructed their houses before August 15,2008.
