President comes to Bengal on a two-day visit

Kolkata, Aug 22 (UNI) President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will come to the state on a two-day visit tomorrow to take part in the celebrations of the 225-year-old The Asiatic Society and a 150-year-old public library.

Official sources here said this would be her first visit to West Bengal since she became the President.

During her visit, she would participate in celebrations of The Asiatic Society tomorrow and the 150th year of the Uttarpara Jai Krishna Public Library at Hooghly on August 24.

Advance tax collections for Q1 up 24.1% at Rs 21,368 cr

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) The government today said it has posted a 24.1 per cent growth in the collection of Corporate Advance Tax at Rs 21,368 crore during quarter ended June 2008, compared to a 27.9 per cent increase in the same period last year.
