PPP nominates Zardari as their presidential candidate

Islamabad, Aug 22 (UNI) The Pakistan Peoples Party today nominated its co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari as the PPP's presidential candidate.

The unanimous recommendation from the members came at the Central Executive Committee meeting of the party.

Information Minister Sherry Rehman told reporters here late this evening that Mr Zardari thanked members for their gesture and said he would look into their request and announce his decision within the next 24 hours.

Deposing before the court, Sub-Inspector of police, attached to the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), Anand Khere, during his cross examination by defence Advocate A N Mishra, told the court that he was a member of the team who had nabbed three Kashmiri militants.....

Poppy husk smuggler sent to 10-year jail

Kaithal, Aug 22 (UNI) The court of Additional Session Judge here today sentenced a poppy husk smuggler to ten years' rigrous imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine of Rs one lakh after convicting him under the NDPS Act. Accused Pala Ram was also sentenced to five-year term and fined Rs 5000 for firing at the police party. In May 2005, police had laid a naka near Kangthli village when a vehicle coming from.....

Official gazettes made available on CD in Goa
