Police stations to have helipad in naxal-infested district of UP

Mirzapur, Aug 22 (UNI) With a view to curb naxal activities in the naxal-infested Sonbhadra district, the Uttar Pradesh government has permitted the district administration to construct helipads in the police stations premises.

IG (Varanasi area) Praveen Singh today told newspersons that the UP government has granted permission for constructing helipads in the police station premises, besides, strengthening of buildings, widening of roads and others such provisions.

The Central government has sanctioned Rs 15 crore as the first installment for the work, Mr Singh apprised adding the work would be initiated soon.

He said Rs two crore have been given for technical upgradation and providing modern facilities to the Chandauli police.

Meanwhile, a proposal for establishing new police station is pending with the government and a suitable decision would be taken soon.

Besides, a proposal for a police training centre at Bargani, Mirzapur, so that no candidate would have to move to other districts for training, is also under consideration.

Union Minister calls for joint participation of corporates, NGOs
