PM congratulates Vijender for Olympic exploits

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today congratulated Vijender Kumar for winning a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics.

''I congratulate you on winning the bronze medal in the 75 kg category boxing event at the Olympics,'' the Prime Minister said in his message.

''Your single minded devotion to excellence in your chosen field of sport has resulted in this achievement, which makes the entire nation proud,'' he added. ''I am confident that greater laurels await you in the future.'' Vijender, who lost to Emillio Correa of Cuba in the semifinals, is the first Indian boxer to win a medal at the Olympics.

Dharamsala, August 22 : Tibetan Non-Government Organisations held a seminar on Friday in Dharamsala to discuss the future strategy of the Tibetan struggle. Kochi, August 22 : Country's first international Malayalam film 'Aakasha Gopuram', released nationwide on Friday. The film is an adaptation of the Henrik Ibsen classic play 'The Master Builder', which was first published in 1892 and first performed in Berlin on January 19, 1893. Tutu J. Sharma, Taizoon Khorakiwala and Manu S. Kumaran produced the film while National award winning director K. P. Kumaran directed it.
