PGI's Sreenivas Reddy awarded Bharat Jyoti

Chandigarh, Aug 22 ( UNI) Dr Sreenivas Reddy, Assistant Professor, Department of Cardiology, PGIMER was awarded Bharat Jyoti Award for meritorious achievements and services in cardiology by the India International Friendship Society.

Dr Reddy youngest member of the faculty of PGIMER, is a Research Associate in stem cell therapy project in acute myocardial infarction sponsored by Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Information Technology, Government of India from August 2007 to January 2008.

He was bestowed with the award during a conference on 'Economic Growth and National Integration' organised by the society in Delhi by the chief guest Mr Rajasekharan, former Minister of Planning, Government of India.

City police arrested inter-state gang of car lifters

Bangalore, Aug 22 (UNI) The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths of the City Police have busted an inter-state gang of car lifters and recovered 50 cars worth more than Rs 3 crore. Speaking to newspersons here today City Police Commissioner Shankar Bidari said that in a major breakthrough five persons who were also wanted by Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Maharashtra police had been apprehended. He said Lathief, one of the four arrested was involved in car theft.....

Officer kills self after shooting colleague

Agartala, Aug 22 (UNI) A Special Police Officer (SPO) allegedly shot himself dead after shooting his colleague following a dispute over a mobile phone in West Tripura. Police said Arun Datta (22) of Hazaripara under Kalaynpur police station shot dead his colleague Subrata Sukladas (21), who was accusing him of stealing his mobile phone before turning the gun on himself. According to reports, Subrata lost his mobile two days ago and had been suspecting fellow officer.....

Rain continues to wreak havoc in Patna

Patna, Aug 22 (UNI) Several parts of the state capital were waterlogged after more than 40.6 mm rain lashed the city since last night. As a result of intermittent heavy downpour, continued for nearly a week now, rain water has entered into many houses in several low- lying areas of the city including those at Dariyapur, Kankarbag, Srikrishna Nagar and Rajendra Nagar. However, efforts were on to pump out the accumulated water, official sources here today said......
