Nitish launches 'On-line' facility for businessmen to pay tax

Patna, Aug 22 (UNI) Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today launched the E-payment scheme to facilitate the business community in 'On-line' payment of taxes.

Launching the scheme at a function organised at Bihar Chamber of Commerce here, Mr Kumar said corruption in administrative machinery could be checked to a great extent through adoption of Information Technology(IT) in making the routine works of various transparent.

''With the launch of the scheme, no business man would be required to visit the concerned office for payment of taxes, renewal of the licences and other related works, '' Mr Kumar said, adding it could be easliy done by them through 'On-line' facilty.

Exhorting the businessmen to expand their areas of activities, Mr Kumar said the law and order situation had immensely improved and a favourable atmoshphere was prevailing in the state to boost the industrial and business activities in the state.

''The state government has decided to distribute two lakh cycles among girl students in Bihar and all help will be extended to people willing to set up cycle factory in the state as no such factory was existing in the state,'' he said.

PPP nominates Zardari as their presidential candidate

Islamabad, Aug 22 (UNI) The Pakistan Peoples Party today nominated its co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari as the PPP's presidential candidate. The unanimous recommendation from the members came at the Central Executive Committee meeting of the party. Information Minister Sherry Rehman told reporters here late this evening that Mr Zardari thanked members for their gesture and said he would look into their request and announce his decision within the next 24 hours. Ganja plants worth over Rs One lakh seized

Mysore, Aug 22 (UNI) Police today seized ganja plants worth about Rs One lakh at Devalapura in the District and arrested one person in this connection. Trial against Haj House Imam begins before new Judge

Mumbai, Aug 22 (UNI) The trial of the Haj House Imam Gulam Yahya, allegedly involved with Kashmiri militants, today began before a new Judge A S Patankar at a fast track court here. Deposing before the court, Sub-Inspector of police, attached to the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS), Anand Khere, during his cross examination by defence Advocate A N Mishra, told the court that he was a member of the team who had nabbed three Kashmiri militants.....
