Mulayam, Amar on 6-member Cong-SP coordination panel

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Samajwadi Patry chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and party general secretary Amar Singh will be on the six-member 'coordination committee' to be formed with the Congress to set guidelines for both parties to work in tanden on various issues.

Talking to the media after his meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh this morning, Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh said during the meeting it had been decided to form a six-member committee, in which four members would be from the Congress and two from the Samajwadi Party.

The Samajwadi Party, which played a major role in the survival of the UPA government during the July 22 'vote of confidence' motion, following withdrawl of support by the Left parties, is supporting the government presently from outside.

Later in the day, the SP leader also met Congress president Sonia Gandhi regarding the formation of the 'coordination committee'.

''While Dr Manmohan Singh, Sonia Gandhi, Pranab Mukherjee and A K Antony would represent the Congress, Mr Mulayam Singh and myself would be from Samajwadi Party in the 'committee','' he told reporters.

The 'committee' would soon hold its meeting, he said adding that all six members would be present during the 'coordination committee' meeting.

Mr Singh also said soon he would also be meeting AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi to discuss matters related to seat sharing in Uttar Pradesh.
