Madras Ladies Golf Tourney to tee off Aug 26

Chennai, Aug 22 (UNI) Meher Atwal has been seeded at the top in a 48- player field for the Madras Ladies Golf Championship which will tee off at the Cosmopolitan Golf Annexe on August 26.

The four-round event would be the first ever in the Indian Golf Union Ladies Section's (IGULS) calendar this year and one of the eight IGULS categorised tournaments that determine the National Order of Merit among amateur lady golfers in India.

The 72-hole strokeplay event would be played in three divisions based on handicap.

Golfers with a handicap of 12 or less will contest the gold division, those with 13 to 24 the silver division and 25 to 36 the bronze division.

Of the 48 entries, 22 were in the gold division with Meher Atwal, with a handicap of three, given the top billing, a release said.
