HC rejected bail application of Uma Kant Yadav

Allahabad, Aug 22 (UNI) The Allahabad High Court has rejected a bail application of BSP MP Umakant Yadav, in a case related to allegedly fraudulent purchase of a piece of land.

Yadav has been accused of having executed a sale deed in his favour by producing a woman before the registrar with the false claim that she was the owner of the plot.

Rejecting the bail application of Yadav, Justice Shivshankar observed that the allegations shows that applicant is a land mafia and that he also has 41 cases registered against him of which 38 have been decided in his favour while four others are pending against him relating murder and attempt to murder.

Rejecting the bail application, Justice Shivshankar observed that releasing the MP on bail could enable him to influence the investigation.

Govt notice to TV channels on Axe Deodarant ad

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Television news channels have drawn flak from the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for telecasting the advertisement of 'Axe Dark Temptation Deodarant' and they have been asked to withdraw the advertisement. Former CEC to meet IWF on Monika issue

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Former Chief Election Commissioner T S Krishnamurthy, who is enquiring into the doping scandal involving weighlifter Monika Devi, will meet the Indian Weightlifter Federation (IWF) on August 26 on the issue.
