Flagged-off boiler consignement to BHEL in Tiruchirapalli

Visakhapatnam, Aug 22 (UNI) The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) director,B P Rao, today flagged off the first consignment of boiler components to BHEL in Thiruchirapalli after being taken over by Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels Limited (BHPV) by BHEL in May 2008.

Speaking after flagging off of the first consignment consisting of 100 metric tonnes boiler pressure parts for Bhel, Tiruchy Plant from here, he said the value addition for the orders given to BHPV by BHEL Tiruchy would be around five crore.

The BHPV enters into power plant equipment manufacturing sector with the first consignment boiler parts for BHEL.

These pressure parts consists of water wall panels and riser pipes destined to Durgapur and Koderma projects for M/S dvc, Kolkata and to Sikka Gujarat State Electricity Board, Baroda these critical power boiler pressure parts have been manufactured under IBR inspection.

BHEL gave these orders worth Rs 1.2 crore to BHPV immediately after taking over of BHPV on May 10,2008.

Presently, BHPV have more orders for about 1,000 metric tonnes from BHEL marking the beginning of efforts of revival of BHPV by BHEL as its subsidiary.

Mr Rao, while speaking to reporters here, said BHPV has Rs 160 crore worth of orders in hand consisting of its traditional products of process plant equipment, majority of which are to be completed by the end of this financial year. After the take over, efforts are on to regain customer confidence and to improve the order book as there is a lot of demand in the process plant sector.

He also said that the BHEL is also taking up activities of training of BHPV engineers in industrial boilers so that BHPV take up manufacturing of the same on their own. Till such time, BHEL will send the despatched materiels to BHPV for completion of value addition and despatch to various projects for Trichy unit.
