Cross Swords felicitates 40 'Veer Naris' in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 22 (UNI) In a bid to ensure a better life for the brave 'Veer Naris' (War Widows), parents and children of martyrs, Crossed Swords Division today and felicitated 40 'Veer Naris' from remote villages of Akhnoor sector, some 30 km from here, official sources said.

Ms Gita Karwal, President, Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA), White Knight Corps and Ms Sayona Philip, President, AWWA, highlighted the various welfare measures instituted for the 'Veer Naris' at a special function organised by Crossed Swords, AWWA to honour the war widows from the bordering Jourian and Pallanwala villages in Akhnoor sector.

While felicitating the 'Veer Naris', Ms Karwal assured them that all efforts were being made to address their needs and also emphasised that a system of continuous monitoring of their interests has also been instituted.

Many brave soldiers of Akhnoor region of Jammu and Kashmir have sacrificed their lives to ensure the territorial integrity of the nation, a defence handout said.

Simi suspects seek bail from K'taka HC

Hubli, Aug 22 (UNI) Four suspected SIMI operatives who are now in different jails in Belgaum and Bellary have filed an appeal to High court bench in Dharwad today seeking bail. The suspects, Asadulla, Dr Mirja Ahamed, Yahya Kamkoti and Sayad Siddiqi have been in jail for the past six months as under trials on the charges hatching terrorist activities in Karnataka and Goa. BSY has no moral right to continue-Nanaiah

Madikeri, Aug 22 (UNI) M C Nanaiah, MLC, today said that Chief Minister has no moral right to continue in chair as he is suspected to have been involved with a mining lobby of Bellary.
