Cong not to declare name of CM before MP Assly polls

Chhindwara, MP, Aug 22 (UNI) Congress General Secretary V Narayan Sami today said the party has decided not to announce candidate for the post of Chief Minister for upcoming assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh.

Talking to reporters before addressing party workers' conference here, Mr Sami said the Antony Committee had suggested not to project any particular leader as Chief Minister in assembly elections.

He said the Congress had its own tradition for choosing the Chief Minister wherein elected legislators inform their choice to the Congress President who takes the final decision.

Referring to the BJP, Union Commerce and Industries Minister Kamal Nath said, ''There is no need for us to imitate anyone else.

Our foremost target is to form government in the state.'' Union Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology Jyotiraditya Scindia said corruption, deteriorating law and order situation and power crisis would be main poll planks during the next assembly polls. He said the Centre would soon rein in inflation.

He claimed that the Congress would win next assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh.

State Congress President Suresh Pachouri said the state-level coordination committee meeting discussed electoral strategy, preparation of election manifesto, poll campaigning and other topics.

Senior Hockey Competition from Aug 26-29

Distribution of BPL and APL cards should be completed by October

Udupi, Aug 22 (UNI) Karnataka Minister for Food and Civil Supplies H Halappa today said that instructions were issued to complete the process of taking photographs of the BPL and APL card holders by September and start issuing cards by October this year. Goa govt's initiative to conserve Heritage structures

Panaji, Aug 22 (UNI) Goa government has taken an initiative to restore and conserve Heritage structures by allocating funds, under the 12th finance commission grants available for the period ending March 2010. This was stated by Archaeology minister Atanasio Monserrate in reply to a starred question of Ms Victoria Fernandes during Question Hour in the state legislative assembly today. The government, he said, had identified 106 heritage structures and further work of listing structures was underway......
