'Centre should come out with price control mechanism' KASSIA

Bangalore, Aug 22 (UNI) Karnataka Small Scale Industries Association President Arvind N Bujri today urged the Union Government to come out with suitable price control mechanism to save Small Scale Industries, which are facing threat of closure due to sky rocketing prices of raw materials.

Talking to newspersons here, he said if the present situation in the prices of raw materials continued, the days were not far for small scale industries to close down and search for other avenues to earn their livelihood.

Mr Bujrisaid ''the prices of raw material has risen by 60 per cent in the recent days, especially that of Iron and Steel. The margin of profit has come down to seven per cent and labour and raw material costs have increased cost of production.'' KASSIA Hon General Secretary Prakash N Raikar said the Centre should evolve a mechanism to control prices of raw materials and steps should be takeen to ban export of raw materials especially iron ore and permit only finished products, as was done in China.

The Association President said to overcome the present crisis in the small-scale industries and to encourage exports, KASSIA will lead a delegation to US to find the marketing opportunities for marketing. The delegation would also attend Kannada Conference organised by Association of Kannada Kootas, America (AKKA) from August 29.

KASSIA will participate in the India Fair organised by International Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) at Santiago from March 21 to 25, 2009.

KASSIA Chief urged the State Government to set up a separate Secretariat for Small-Scale industries to enable it to solve its problems with out delay.

Flagged-off boiler consignement to BHEL in Tiruchirapalli

Visakhapatnam, Aug 22 (UNI) The Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) director,B P Rao, today flagged off the first consignment of boiler components to BHEL in Thiruchirapalli after being taken over by Bharat Heavy Plate and Vessels Limited (BHPV) by BHEL in May 2008. Amend MCI Act, Bindal asks Ramadoss

New Delhi, Aug 22 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Health Minister Rajeev Bindal today asked the Centre to amend the Medical Council of India (MCI) Act to facilitate setting up of medical and nursing colleges in the State in the private partership mode.
