Yeddyurappa to visit US to woo investrors

Bangalore, Aug 21 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa, accompanied by his cabinet colleagues and legislators, will embark on a week-long tour to United States of America to woo the oversea investors.

Talking to newsmen after chairing the State High Level Clearance Committee (SHLCC) Meeting here, he said that "I wanted to utilise my tour of US to attract investors from Karnataka people settled there and also others interested." He said that the State would be holding 'Suvarna Karnataka Global Investors Meet' in January 2009 and road shows would be organised in various major cities within and outside to highlight the advantages and major strengths of Karnataka.

He said that a brochure 'Samrudha Karnataka' has been released highlighting the facilities available, investment opportunities in various fields including infrastructure, health, tourism projects.

"The Meet was expected to draw senior decision makers from the international and national investor community." He said that a Committee headed by Minister for Large and Medium Industries Murugesh R Nirani has already been sent to conduct road shows in various States and abroad to attract investors.

Mr Yeddyurappa will be participating in the fifth Kannada Conference organised by Association Kannada Kootas of America (AKKA) in Chicago scheduled to be held from August 29 to August 31.

Gangtok, Aug 21 (UNI) High-powered gelatine sticks were recovered from a suspected Bhutanese person by Sikkim police yesterday at Rhenock, East Sikkim. Police today said the suspect Bhuddiman Bhujel (21) was roaming the Rhenock bazaar suspiciously with a friend when policemen stopped and searched them.
