Seminar on need for policy on land use in India on Aug 25

Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) In order to come to grips with the numerous aspects of the issue of land, a day-long seminar on 'The Land Question in India-Issues and the need for a policy on land use' has been organised here on August 25.

Communist Party of India (Marxist) General Secretary Prakash Karat will address the seminar, jointly organised by Indian School of Social Science and College of Social Work, a release said today.

The event has been planned in the back drop of widespread discontent witnessed over land related issues across India in the recent times, the release added.

Police lathicharge Cong workers in Singur

Srinagar, Aug 21 (UNI) The Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Recruitment Board has selected 93 Kashmiri migrants as constables in the Indian Reserve Police (IRP), an official spokesman said today. U'khand govt to implement Sixth Pay Commission

Dehra Dun, Aug 21 (UNI) The Uttarakhand Government has constituted a two-member committee headed by fomer Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Secretary Sushil Kumar Tripathy and Finance Secretary Radha Raturi to implement the recommendations of the Sixth Pay Commission. The high-level commission notified yesterday, would be given six months to submit its report, sources said. The commission would be entrusted to suggest ways and means for the implementation of the report, to put the minimum burden.....
