Rs 9,000 capex allotted for the the third terminal at IGI

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) A sum of Rs 9,000 crore has been enmarked for the third runway at IGI Airport which is expected to be ready before the Commonwealth Games.

''A sum of Rs 9,000 crore has been enmarked for the third runway at IGI Airport which is expected to be ready before the Commonwealth Games,'' Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel said while inaugurating the third runway for trials here today.

All the civil work, airfield lighting and marking has been done and calibration work by the Airport Authority of India will be over soon.

The new terminal would be able to handle 37 million passengers per year.

By end-2010 or early the next year, four international carriers-Emirates, British Airways, Lufthansa and Air France are likely to start their A380 service to Delhi from Dubai, London, Frankfurt and Paris.

The two new airports at Bangalore and Hyderabad are also capable of handling the A380.

Pakistan Army violates ceasefire at LoC again

Rajouri, Aug 21 : The Pakistan Army has allegedly violated its ceasefire with India again by opening fire at around 6:30 a.m this morning at the Line of control (LoC) in the Rajouri sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistani troops fired eight mortars and a rocket on Indian Army positions in the Ghangar area. This ceasefire violation is 27th since the beginning of the year and the seventh in the last one month. The cross-border firing is taking place.....

Ex-beau comforting 'extremely upset' Jade Goody

London, Aug 21 : Cancer-stricken Jade Goody's ex-beau Jack Tweed was spotted consoling her as they visited the Big Brother star's consultant in hospital. Mum-of-two was crying and visibly distressed at the wheel of her silver Bentley while Tweed was sitting on the passenger seat. Goody held her hands to her face and said nothing as she arrived back home in Upshire, Essex, and Tweed put an arm around her as they walked to the front door. "She looked extremely upset.....
