People in Kashmir suffer due to shortage of essentials, PDP

Srinagar, Aug 21 (UNI) Expressing concern over the shortage of essential commodities in Kashmir, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today urged authorities to rush essentials to different parts of the Valley immediately.

Mohammad Rafi Mir and Bashart Bukhari, two senior leaders of the PDP, in a joint statement have expressed their concern over the shortage of essential commodities and eatables in the Valley.

They urged the administration to initiate measures for the supply and stock of wheat, sugar, rice, kerosene oil, LPG gas in remote and Kandi areas of Valley.

They alleged that ration depots in Kandi areas of Anantnag, Baramulla and Kupwara and Pulwama were dry and the poor consumers were starving due to the scarcity of essentials.

They challenged the claim of administration that there was no dearth of essential commodities and said the economic blockade by the sang- parivar has severely hit the supply of essentials.

Whatever little reaching here could not meet the consumer demands, they added.

''We want action not claims to diffuse the crisis'' the leaders said and asserted that the government has miserably failed in dealing with the distressing situation.

They demanded that the government should take immediate measures and ensure smooth but speedy supply of consumer goods to the people in Valley.
