Nelson Mandela's name hijacked!

London, Aug 21: Nelson Mandela, a victim of Internet fraud? Former South African President Nelson Mandela's name has been hijacked in internet fraud. In a statement, the Nelson Mandela Foundation said it wanted to warn the public about the scheme, which appears to be a variation on the "advance fee" or "419" frauds which originated in Nigeria.

46664 is one of Mandela's charitable organisations, devoted to the fight against HIV/Aids and named after his prison number. "The Nelson Mandela Foundation and 46664 would like to alert the public to this scam and categorically denounces any involvement in this fraudulent activity."

Paris, Sept 5: Former South African President Nelson Mandela, in Paris on a private visit, met French President Nicolas Sarkozy for dinner at the Elysee Palace today, Sarkozy's spokesman said. Sarkozy, who personally greeted Mandela at Orly airport on his arrival yesterday, presented the former leader of the anti-apartheid movement with a book of photographs from an early campaign of civil disobedience in 1952,David Martinon said. Durban, May 7: South African parliament on Wednesday, May 7 elected Jacob Zuma as the President of the country with a thumping majority. The parliament which convened for the first time after he led ANC to a landslide win.67-year-old Zuma bagged 277 votes as against his opponet Mvume Dandala, who got 47 votes.
