Lt Gen VS Tonk takes command of Vajra Corps

Jalandhar, Aug 21 (UNI) Lt Gen V S Tonk today took the charge of GOC of Vajra Corps from Lt Gen S S Kumar, who is taking over as QMG at Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), New Delhi.

Lt Gen V S Tonk is an alumnus of Sainik School, Kunjpura and Indian Military Academy. He was commissioned on November 14, 1971 into The Rajput Regiment.

The General Officer has commanded his Battalion, an Infantry Brigade and a Mountain Division. Prior to this he was posted at the Integrated Headquarters of Ministry of Defence (Army), New Delhi.

During his illustrious career, the Gereral Officer has held various important staff, instructional and command assignments.

Grant of 1997 pay scales in BPCL gets Cabinet approval

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) The Union Cabinet today gave ex post-facto approval for pay scale revision of employees of Bharat Pumps and Compressors Ltd (BPLC), Allahabad, from January 1, 1997. ''Approval has been given for implementation of revision of pay scales from the present scales of 1992 to the scales of 1997,'' Information and Broadcasting Minister Priyaranjan Dasmunsi said after the Cabinet meeting. Cabinet approves ground water management and regulation scheme

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs(CCA) today approved continuation of the ongoing schemes of 'Ground Water Survey, Exploration and Investigation', 'Current Ground Water Authority' and 'Study of recharge to Ground Water' as one integrated scheme on 'Ground Water Managaement and Regulation. The scheme would be given Rs 460 Crore during the 11th Plan, an official statement said here. The Scheme will help in strengthening ground water resource management system, delineation.....
