Srinagar, Aug 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Council has recalled R V Raju, IPS, from central deputation while it has also approved posting of Ashok Bhan as DGP(CID).

The council which met today under the chairmanship of Governor N N Vohra approved recalling of Mr Raju from central deputation with immediate effect.

On his repatriation to the cadre, he would be promoted, an official spokesperson said this evening.

The Council also approved transfer of Mr Ashok Bhan Commissioner of Vigilance and posted him as DGP, CID in his own pay and grade.

Mr Bhan will handover charge of his present post to Mr S Gopal Reddy, IPS, who would hold it till it is filled up on a regular basis.

Protesters in Jammu attempt to disrupt supplies

Jammu, August 21 : Continuing with their protests over the shrine land row demonstrators ransacked a vehicle of the State's Food and Supplies Department on Thursday in Jammu. Situation remained tense although there was no day curfew in the region, as protesters tried to block the roads and prevented vehicular movement in the city.
