Japanese naval sqaudron to visit Mumbai on Aug 23

Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) The Japan Training Squadron (JTS) of the Japan Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) will be on a four-day goodwill visit to the city from August 23.

The squadron will arrive at the Indira Dock here as part of the ''five-month 10-country: 13 port Overseas Training Cruise'' to impart practical training to develop seamanship and leadership skills in the newly commissioned officers, a release issued by Consulate General of Japan said today.

The squadron commanded by Rear Admiral Chinkara Inoue will consist of the 4,050 tonne flagship ''Kashima'', 3,500 tonne ''Umigiri'' and 3,500 tonne ''Asagiri'' with a total crew of 710 officers, including 173 newly commissioned officers.

During its halt, the squadron will pay courtesy call on the Governor of Maharashtra, Mayor of the city and Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command.

Sports events between the Indian Navy and JTS, ship visits by Indian students and sight seeing by JTS crew will be also included.

The squadron will proceed to Singapore on August 26, the release added.

Companies Secretaries exam results on August 25

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Results of the Company Secretaries (CS) examination held in June 2008 will be declared on August 25 at 1600 hrs. According to ICSI Secretary and CEO N K Jain, the results will be displayed simultaneously at the Institute of Company Secretaries of India's head and regional offices, including 69 chapter offices and 66 examination centres in India and abroad. The results will also be available on the Institute's website: www.icsi.edu.....

IAF helicopters start air-dropping of food packets in North Bihar

Patna, Aug 21 (UNI) Indian Air Force (IAF) helicopters today started air-dropping of food packets and other relief material as the situation in flood-ravaged eight North Bihar districts deteriorated further, forcing the authorities to take the help of the Army. Bihar Disaster Management department sources here said the air-dropping of food packets had started this morning in Purnea and Supoul districts where the Army had also been called, following the breach of a number of embankments.....
