Intermitent heavy rain lashes Patna

Patna, Aug 21 (UNI) Several low-lying areas in Patna and its adjoining localities have been inundated following intermitent heavy rain for nearly a week now.

The local met office recorded 38.2 mm rainfall during the last 24 hours, forcing the Patna Municipal Corporation to deploy a number of pumps to drain out water from the worst affected areas.

Today's maximum temperature was recorded at 31.2 degree celsius, while the minimum was 25.3 degree celsius.

The general forecast spoke of cloudy sky with possibility of moderate to heavy rain during the next 24 hours.

Beijing, Aug 21 (UNI) Claiming a purity of 99.9 per cent in their product, makers and officials today said the 3,000 medals this time are among the best in the Games' history and the most advanced technologies have been used to manufacture them. ''The 3,000 medals (gold, silver and bronze) were made according to the standards set by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Beijing, Aug 21 (UNI) Billions of people across the world witnessed the enthralling August 7 opening ceremony and the Beijing Games are set to top all previous broadcasts of the event in terms of coverage and technology. While at the 2004 Athens Games, only eight countries experimented with delayed Internet broadcasts, some 4.5 billion people would have viewed the Games on TV and online, an official said.
