Inflamable substance caused fire in train: report

Hyderabad, Aug 21 (UNI) The Commissioner of Railway Safety, South Central circle here R P Agrawal in his prelimary report stated that a highly inflamable substance was the cause of the fire in Secunderabad-Kakinada Guatami express on August 1, in which 31 people were killed and nine others injured.

Mr Agrawal, who conducted a statutory inquiry into the incident of fire in five coaches of the train stated that the inflamable substance could have been in a liquid or solid form in S-10 coach and kept there by some unidentified person or persons.

The fire appeared to have originated from the floor at 0115 hours on August 1 between Kesamudram-Tadlapusapalli stations, the report said.

Thakare takes over as MPCC president

Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) Mr Manikarao Thakre today took over as the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee President at the MPCC office here in presence of Chief Minister Vilarao Deshmukh and Revenue minister Narayan Rane.
