Indo-German project hits Indian construction industry

Chennai, Aug 21 (UNI) There is reason for the Indian construction industry, especially the electrical installation sector, to rejoice with the launch of an Indo-German joint venture here.

The JVOBO Beetermann India Private Limited, was concluded between an Indian businessman Gopakumar and nearly a century-old German OBO Bettermann Group.

Through this venture, the expertise and technological prowess of the German partner in the field of electrical installation and cable-routing would be made available to the Indian market.

World leader in the areas of Conducting Electricity, Routing Data and Controlling Energy, the OBO Bettermann Group manufacturers about 30,000 products and offers system solutions and customized products for its customers, with exports accounting for 50 per cent of its total turn-over of Euro 400 million.

With its presence in Cable Management Industry, Infrastructure project, Cable Management Solutions for Commercial and Residential Objects Building Technology, and Professional Electrical Installation, OBO Bettermann strongly believes in the growth potential of the Indian construction industry.

As the Indian construction industry is becoming increasingly sophisticated and eco-friendly, OBO-Bettermann was keen to exploit the manufacturing competitiveness of India to produce a variety of their installation products in India itself under the newly established joint-venture to offer tailor-made products that suits the Indian requirements at an affordable cost.

OBO-Bettermann India Private Limited aims to achieve a turn-over of Rs 300 Million in the year 2009 and plans to touch Rs 500 million in 2010.

An official release here said, that under-floor systems and transient voltage and lightning protection systems would be taken up for domestic production in the initial phase.

57 killed in Pak blast; Taliban claims responsibility

Islamabad, Aug 21 (UNI) At least 57 people were killed and more than 40 injured in twin suicide attacks near two gates of Pakistan's main armament manufacturing factory in Wah town today. Wipro Infrastructure signs partnership pact with Cargotec
