Implement Renke Commissions's report, join Congress: Rathod

Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) The expelled BJP MP from Yavatmal Haribhau Rathod today declared that he is ready to join the Congress only if the UPA Government implements the Balkrishna Renke Commission's report for the nomadic tribes.

Speaking at a public meeting here, Mr Rathod, who had abstained from voting during the confidence motion in Parliament on July 22, said the Maharashtra government had already given several concessions to VJNT on par with SC and ST but the same were lacking all over India.

He said all over the country, at least 15 crore people fall under this category.

He said Dhnagar, Banjara, Bhoi, Wadar and such nomadic tribes fall in the VJNT category. The castes of VJNT in North India are Rajbhar, Lodha, Gujjar.

''If the UPA Government will implement the Renke report, then and then only I will join them,'' said Mr Rathod.

Punjab Cabinet approves land pooling scheme

Chandigarh, Aug 21 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today approved the land pooling scheme for the purpose of acquisition of land for public purposes. The approval was granted at its meeting presided by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal here, Chief Minister's Media Advisor Harcharan Bains said.
