Gang of bike lifters busted, 19 bikes recovered

Chandigarh Augt 21 (UNI) The Haryana Police has busted a gang of motorcycle lifters resulting in the recovery of 19 motorcycles in Karnal.

Two members of the gang namely Sandeep alias Sonu and Rinku alias Kala, residents of Gharaunda, were arrested and during interrogation they confessed to have committed theft of 11 motorcycles, out of which 6 motorcycles had been recovered.

Further investigation was in progress and the accused were on police remand till August 26, a police spokesman said here today.

He said another gang of motorcycle thieves, comprising Ravinder alias Billu and Ram Lal had been apprehended. They confessed to have stolen nine motorcycles, out of which 3 motorcycles had been recovered.

Another motorcycle lifter Sumit was arrested and ten motorcycles were recovered from him.

One held with two passports with different names

Hyderabad, Aug 21 (UNI) The city police today apprehended a person who was holding two passports with the same photograph but in different names and addresses and seized three Passports from him. According to a press release, the accused Arif Ibrahim Qureshi a butcher was running a beef shop here. In 1991 he went to Tabuk, Saudi Arabia as Butcher but returned back to India as his passport was taken away by his employer there. Later,.....

2nd HC bench declines to hear petition against Chandra's appointment

Allahabad, Aug 21 (UNI) The second nominated division bench of the Allahabad High Court today declined to hear the writ petition challenging the recent appointment of a sitting Allahabad High Court justice Satish Chandra. The bench comprising Janardan Sahay and Rakesh Sharma today declined to hear the writ and forwarded it to the Chief Justice.
