CM lays foundation stone for Spices park

Guntur, Aug 21 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy today laid the faoundation stone for Rs 100 crore Spices Park to be set up on 124 acres of land at Mydavolu villege in Edlapadu Mandal in this district.

The park, which is expected to be comleted in two years, would have facilities for drying 10 metric tonnes of chillies daily and it would upgrade the quality of spices and ensure better price for growers in Andhra Pradesh.

The drying facility would benefit small and medium farmers, who can not afford expensive poly dryers for processing chillies and turmuric, Spices Board Deputy Director P S Sreekantan Thampi said adding spices board had amitious plans to set up six parks across the country.

The spices board would also invest Rs 25 crore in the first phase for creation of infrastructural facilities and mobilise the rest through deposits collected from exporters, he added.

The Chief Minister also inaugurated Rajiv Arogyasri Health Camp at Narasaraopeta and distributed halth cards to Arogyasri beneficiaries.

Daily import of essentials not reaching people

Srinagar, Aug 21 (UNI) A majority of depots of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) are without ration, though the authorities claimed that hundreds of trucks carrying essentials are arriving here daily from Jammu. Srinagar, Aug 21 (UNI) The indefinite strike by the drivers and other employees of the Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (SRTC) has affected educational institutions, government offices and supply to essentials in the valley as 700 vehicles were grounded in Kashmir, Delhi, Jammu, Leh and Kargil.
