Cabinet clears New Land Records Modernisation Programme

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) A new Centrally-sponsored National Land Records Modernisation Programme (NLRMP) will replace two related schemes and will be implemented in select districts on a pilot basis at a cost of Rs 400 crore before being expanded to cover the entire country in eight years, the Cabinet decided today.

NLRMP will replace the Strengthening of Revenue Administration and Updating of Land Records (SRA and ULR) and Computerisation of Land Records (CLR), Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters.

The programme will be funded 100 per cent by the Centre for computerisation of land records, 50 per cent for survey and re-survey and updating of survey and settlement records and 25 per cent for computerisation of registration, scanning and preservation of legacy mutation records and providing connectivity to the sub-registrars' offices with the revenue offices.

The pilot programme will cover one or two districts in each state and Union Territory initially and then will be scaled up to three to four districts per state/UT. Public-private partnership model would be allowed in non-sensitive districts.

Trees kill odors and other emissions from poultry farms

Washington, August 21 : Scientists have suggested that planting just three rows of trees around poultry farms can cut nuisance emissions of dust, ammonia, and odors from poultry houses. As part of a research by scientists from the University of Delaware in the US, the findings indicate that some of the emissions can almost be cut by half. According to George W.
