Boy killed in bus accident, irate mob damage 15 buses

Dindigul, Aug 21 (UNI) Police today used mild force to chase away an angry mob that vandalised atleast 15 government buses, after an eight-year-old boy was run over by a government bus, at Bathlagundu Bus Stand, near here.

Police said S Vivek, a third standard student in a private school, was run over by a town bus at the bus stand, when he was about to board another bus to go to his home at Lakshmipuram area, this evening.

It was alleged that the police did not arrive at the accident site after a long time. Enraged over this, an irate mob pelted stones on the government buses parked at the bus stand and passing buses on the road.

When the police arrived at the scene, there was a wordy duel between the police and the mob.

When the situation went out of control, police used mild force to chase away the public.

Later, the body was removed to the government hospital here for post-mortem.

Police pickets have been posted in and around the bus stand to prevent further trouble.

Pakistan encouraging unrest in J and K : Anand Sharma

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) India today accused Pakistan of encouraging the present unrest in Jammu and Kashmir, asserting that there was no room for ''brazen assault'' on national unity and integrity. Srinagar, Aug 21 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir State Advisory Council has recalled R V Raju, IPS, from central deputation while it has also approved posting of Ashok Bhan as DGP(CID). Punjab Cabinet reviews flood relief measures

Chandigarh, Aug 21 (UNI) The Punjab Cabinet today reviewed the flood relief measures being undertaken in full swing by the state government and appreciated the role of the Army to bail out the flood affected persons. The Cabinet at its meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, assured that full compensation would be paid to the flood victims for the damage caused to the crops, property and loss of human life.
