Bank manager goes to jail for killing cashier

Sasaram, Aug 21 (UNI) A fast track court here today handed down a life term to a rural bank manager on charges of murdering a cashier three years ago.

The court also slapped a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict.

The designated judge of the fast track court (II), A.D. Sharma, found Shiv Prasad Dubee, the manager of the rural bank in central Bihar, Mohania branch, guilty for killing the cashier on March 17,2005.

The manager was convicted on the basis of dying declaration of the deceased. Another accused in the case was acquitted.

Puducherry, Aug 21 (UNI) With the Supreme Court directing that the public prosecutor in the Sankararaman murder case, in which the Kanchi Acharyas Jayendra Saraswathi and Vijyendra Saraswathi are the prime accused, must be from Puducherry, the trial in the case is exepected to commence afresh at the Puducherry principal district and sessions court tomorrow. Eventhough the case was transferred from Tamil Nadu to Puducherry in 2005 and the trial had also commenced, it could not.....

HC suggests Ambani brothers to approach mother

Mumbai, Aug 21 (UNI) The Bombay High Court today suggested the rival Ambani brothers--Anil and Mukesh, to approach their mother Kokilaben to resolve the dispute over the agreement for supply of gas from the Krishna-Godavari basin. HC directs St Stephens to select principal within eight weeks

New Delhi, Aug 21 (UNI) Delhi High court today directed St Stephens college to select a principal for the college within eight weeks. A bench comprising Chief Justice A P Shah and Justice S Murlidhar directed the college that since it is without a principal from January 2007, they should immediately start the selection process as per the rules of Minority institutions and appoint one within eight weeks.
