Anti-terrorism squads for important cities in MP

Bhopal, Aug 21 (UNI) In order to meet challenges to security in view of serial bomb blasts that rocked Bengaluru and Ahemdabad recently, anti-terrorism squads are proposed to be constituted in important cities of Madhya Pradesh.

It was agreed in principle to okay a proposal to this effect at a meeting of senior officers of the Home Department held in the presence of the Home Minister Himmat Kothari, an official release said here today.

Anti-terrorism squads are already functioning in Punjab, Delhi, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh at present.

Anti-terrorism squads are proposed to be raised at State Police Headquarters, Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, Ujjain, Khandwa and Ratlam.

A technical cell was being planned for the anti-terrorism squad proposed at PHQ. Besides, office building, vehicle, sophisticated weapons, equipments etc are proposed to be made available to these squads.

A task force of 175 police personnel, including three Superintendents of Police, seven Deputy Superintendents of Police, 13 Police Inspectors, 36 Sub-Inspectors of Police, 54 Head Constables and 62 constables would be deputed in the proposed anti-terrorism squads, the release added.

India conveys its commitment towards non-proliferation to NSG

Vienna, Aug 21 : The members of the 45-nation Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) in Vienna were on Thursday given a special briefing by India to convey its commitment towards non-proliferation. Foreign Secretary Shiv Shankar Menon led the Indian delegation and cited the country's impeccable track record with regard to non-proliferation and asserted that the waiver will not in any way weaken the global non-proliferation regime. Haryana Agro to set up Honey Processing Lab

Chandigarh, Aug 21 (UNI) The Haryana Agro Industries Corporation plans to set up a qQuality control and Honey Processing Post Harvest Laboratory at its Research and Development Centre in Murthal. Agriculture Minister Harmohinder Singh Chatha today said the Corporation had set up the Research and Development Centre for development and research activities in the state. The Centre had also started the work of development of Herbal Park with the help of Forest Department for supply.....
