New Delhi, Jul 8: Just a few hours after Manmohan Singh made the decision to approach IAEA on Indo-US nuclear deal, CPI-M General Secretary Prakash Karat in a press conference on Tuesday, July 8 declared that Left Parties have decided to withdraw support to the UPA.

The letter has been drafted to Pranab Mukherjee. Left has sought the time to meet the President on Wednesday, July 9 morning to officialy withdraw support. Rashtrapati Bhawan has confirmed the meet at 12 noon tomorrow. Further, Left will ask President to convene Parliament session so that PM can seek trust vote on the floor of the House.

The four Left parties CPI, CPI (M), Forward Bloc and Revolutionary Socialist Party of India (RSP) met here in New Delhi to discuss the same. Forward Bloc General Secretary Debabrata Biswas had already said that the Left Parties would submit a letter of withdrawl to the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government to President Pratibha Patil by July 10.

UPA has presently 225 seats(minus Left). It needs a majority of 272 to pass the trust vote comfortably. According to latest reports:

UPA: 225; SP: 35 seats; RJD:3; JD-S: 2= 265

In case they can woo the 3 other Independents and the 4 rebel SP members, they can close the mark at 272. 14 Akali Dal members will decide on Wednesday, July 9 to support the firrst Sikh Prime Minister or not.

Time can only decide whether UPA will emerge winners or not!
