Curfew relaxation passes off peacefully in Jammu

Jammu, Jul 8: The curfew relaxation announced by the district administration observed no violence and passed off peacefully in the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

The relaxation was extended to an eight hour duration, which remained peaceful in the city and its outskirts as people rushed to shops to purchase essential commodities.

Long queues were witnessed for petrol and diesel at the filling stations while the banks and Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) also observed heavy rush of commuters.

The relaxation from 0700 hrs to 1500 hrs was declared under the jurisdiction of ten police stations both in South and North Jammu.

Hundreds of people were arrested and injured in the week-long agitation in Jammu region against the state government for revoking order of transfer of land to the Shri Amarnath Shrine Board.
