Gilani urges militants to renounce violence

Islamabad, May 3: Pakistan Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani has offered to talk to militants willing to renounce violence and be a part of the democratic process in Pakistan. Addressing the Balochistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Quette on Friday, Gilani said terrorism is a serious threat to peace, security and stability of Pakistan. "I appeal to all extremists to renounce violence and be a part of the democratic process," he added. He reiterated the Pakistan People's Party's (PPP) commitment to the resolution of Balochistan's issues, the Daily Times reported.

Musharraf rules out US strikes in Pakistan

Islamabad, July 27: Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf said today his forces were fully capable of dealing with al Qaeda militants and dismissed the possibility of US forces taking anti-terrorism action on Pakistani soil. Musharraf's remarks came after a spate of statements from US officials suggesting the US military kept open the option of a strike against Taliban and al Qaeda targets on Pakistani territory. ''It is very clear that here on Pakistani territory only.....
