RS member demands wage board for journalists

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) Demand for expediting the wage board for journalists and non-journalists and fixing wages for journalists of regional papers was raised in Rajya Sabha today by a Congress member during a discussion on the Working of the Labour Ministry.

Mr Ramchandra Kunthiam, while participating in the discussion, demanded information from Labour Minister Oscar Fernandes, who was also present, on the progress on the wage board for journalists and non-journalists.

Pointing out that in some parts, journalists were given only identity cards and no wages, he said the government should look into this aspect.

He said it had been noticed that while some newspapers implemented the wage board recommendations, some did not. the government should ensure that all newspapers implemented the recommendations, he added.
