Researcher unveils new algorithm for optimal online communication

Washington, April 24 : A Dutch researcher at the Eindhoven University of Technology has developed algorithms for wireless networks that focus on optimising communication to a central point in such networks, by minimising processing times and the communication costs.

Peter Korteweg says that an important problem in online networks is the communication of data to a central point in the network.

He says that the quality of the solution depends on several criteria, such as the energy cost for communication and the time needed to collect data.

The researcher studied subsidiary aspects like minimising the maximum communication costs, minimising the time needed to collect all data, and minimising the processing time of messages.

Korteweg says that his study provides casts light on the effect that faster communication resources can have on the quality of the algorithm.

He says that his work also provides an algorithm that ensures that both the communication costs and the message delays deviate as little as possible from of the best offline solution.

Japan freezes Iranian assets over nuclear plan

Tokyo, May 18: Japan decided today to freeze the assets of more Iranian individuals and institutions in line with United Nations sanctions aimed at persuading Tehran to stop nuclear enrichment, which could be used to make an atomic bomb. Fifteen Iranian individuals and 13 institutions designated by a UN resolution as being involved with Iran's nuclear programme will be added to a list of those whose assets have already been frozen, the government said......
