Rayat-Bahra to organise three-day mega job fest from May 2

Jalandhar, Apr 24 (UNI) The Rayat and Bahra Group of Institutes is going to organise a three-day mega job fest of the region for nearly 25,000 students at its Engineering and Bio-Technology campus from May 2 at Sahauran in Mohali district.

Making the announcement to this effect, Group's Vice Chairman Gurvinder Singh Bahra told media persons here today that the job fest, which is being conducted in association with National Association of Software and Services Companies (NASSCOM), would not only provide platform to IT, MBA, B Tech, MCA, MFC, MBE, MCom, MSc, BBA, BCom, BCA, BSc, BA, polytechnic and ITI students but also for the students who had only passed 12th examinations.

Mr Bahra said an estimated 25,000 students would be examined and scrutinised for over three days by nearly 150 national and multi-national companies including firms from FMCG, IT, engineering, pharmaceutical, banking, insurance, finance advertising, telecom and manufacturing sectors.

''We expect about 9,000 to 10,000 on the spot job offers to students from this fest,'' he said adding that they had already placed 1200 students over the last six months in 12 separate placements and pool interview drives so far.

While sharing the vision and expansion plans of the Group, which was started with the meagre strength of 180 students in 2001 and which has now increased to 10,000 students, Mr Bahra informed that setting up of an Education City in Hoshiarpur was on the cards, which would be having nearly 26 institutes and colleges at one place from nursery onwards and also nearly 100 plus two schools would also be set up in the region.

Regarding concessions, he said from this year onwards, 350 needy students would be provided education free of cost in all the streams and also 50 per cent discount would be given to orphaned students and 25 per cent to students with one parent or to handicapped student.
