Programe to bring back Indian Scientists from abroad

Bangalore, Apr 24 (UNI) The Government of India has chalked out an ambitious programme, with the help of Welcome Trust, to bring back thousands of expatriate Indian bio-technocrats to set up units in India, Union BT Secretary M K Bhan said today.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inaugural function of the Bangalore Bio-2008, the biggest BT event in Asia, he said the Centre had taken the help of Welcome Trust to launch this mega programme to attract Indian BT scientists either working abroad or who have set up companies, to come back to India.

"This is a kind of a very attractive recently package for Young Indians to come back. This is among a series of initiative by the government to lay a solid foundation for advancement of scientific education and research process in the life science sector," he said.

He said about 3000 such scientists were likely to return to India in the next few years.
