Prof. Soz to inaugurate seminar on climate change

New Delhi, Apr 24: Union Minister for Water Resources Professor Saifuddin Soz will inaugurate a brain storming session on "Impact of Climate Change on Water Resources and Adaptation Strategies" here today.

The session is being organised by the Ministry of Water Resources. At the country level, Prime Minister's Climate Council will provide overall policy and mechanism to cope with the impacts of climate change on natural resources, social, economic and human well being. The Ministry of Water Resources will play a pro-active role in realistic assessment of impact of climate change on water resources, devising adaptation, mitigation and coping strategies for tackling the impact of climate change on water resources.

The themes, which will be discussed, are down-scaling of GCM at basin scale, impact of climate change on water resources and hydrological variable, coping mechanism and adaptation strategies and other related issues.

Jai Prakash Narayan Yadav, the Minister of State for Water Resources, U.N. Panjiar, Secretary, Ministry of Water Resources, Professor Asit K.Biswas, Chairman Third World Water Academy Mexico and other dignitaries from different government organizations, research institutes, and NGOs will address the session.

Assam Company commences oil delivery from Amguri field

New Delhi, Feb 22 (UNI) Assam Company Ltd (ACL) has begun delivery of oil from its operated field in Amguri to Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) refinery in Guwahati, Assam, about 115 km away. The oil is being sold at the same price as a basket of crude oils with similar characteristics traded in the international market, a company release here said. The oil produced from Amguri is first trucked to Oil India Ltd (OIL) facility at Moran.....
