Ordinance to regulate money lending soon: Kadam

Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) Maharashtra cooperation Minister Dr Patangrao Kadam today said the state government would soon introduce an ordinance to regulate money-lending activity.

Replying to a query raised by Leader of the Opposition Pandurang Phundkar and others in the state Legislative Council, he said the ordinance, once approved, would ensure smooth transfer of the land from money lenders to the original owners.

Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil had spoken about the need to control money lending activities across the state and even introduce stringent laws for the same.

UAE carriers to fly to Calicut

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) The designated airlines of the UAE will now fly to Calicut with India and the United Arab Emirates revising air service operations, enhancing their aircraft capacity. In an agreement signed here yesterday, the designated airlines of the two countries are entitled to operate up to 54,200 seats per week in each direction, an addition of 23,000 per week. There will be 39,200 seats per week in each direction between points in.....

India, US hold meeting on crucial global issues

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) India and the United States today agreed to strengthen cooperation in a wide spectrum of issues including climate change and food security. The discussions, held at the Sixth Meeting of the Indo-US Global Issues Forum, also focussed on other issues of common concern like promotion of democracy and human rights, controlling avian flu and mitigating a future pandemic, accelerating polio eradication programmes, cooperation in disaster management, protecting endangered wildlife.....
