Movement of Naxalites, Maoists under check: DGP

Tiruchirapalli, Apr 24 (UNI) Coordinated intelligence network among the state police has enabled to check the movement of Naxalites and Maoists, Tamil Nadu Director-General of Police K P Jain said today.

Mr Jain, who is here to chair a review meeting with the Central Zone police officials, told mediapersons vigil against such ''anti-people'' movements would continue.

The Maoists, who escaped from the Kodaikanal hills after an encounter with the police would be nabbed soon, he added.

Police have been directed to keep a close observation in Kodaikanal area and other vulnerable places where there was possible movements of Naxalites and Maoists, he said.

Stating that Chief Minister M Karunanidhi was very keen to modernise the police force, he said all the police stations would be provided with internet connectivity shortly.

Referring to the desecration of Pasumpon Muthuramalainga Thevar statue at Madurai recently, he said it was impossible to provide security to each and every statue. However, the government would take steps to provide round-the-clock vigil to ensure that such painful incidents did not recur.

He said adequate police Bandobust to the statues in vulnerable areas would be provided.

With a view to eradicating the menace of anti-social elements in the state, the police department was preparing the case history of each and every rowdy. Once it was ready, police would arrest them under non-bailable sections, he added.
