Mandi, Apr 24: A mysterious disease has taken a toll of hundreds of sheep and goat in Sanaur, Badar and Uttarsal belts of Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.
An unknown epidemic broke out last week killing hundreds of sheep and goat in the district following which a team of veterinary doctors has been rushed to the affected areas to take blood samples and other remedial measures, sources in the animal husbandry department told the sources here.
With the advent of summer, a large number of shepherds take their sheep and goat from plains to the green valleys in higher altitudes of Himachal Pradesh.
Majority of the sheep and goat reported killed were in the vicinity of the famous Prashan Lake located at the height of 9,000 ft, the sources added.
