Ex-mill grade sugar steady

Navi Mumbai, Apr 24 (UNI) Ex-mill grade sugar prices remained steady today on scattered buying, Bombay Sugar Merchants Association said.

Small and medium grade sugar fell by Re 1 and Rs 10 per quintal due to sluggish demand by bulk consumers, traders said.

Ex-mill small and medium grades remained steady, traders added.

Following were the spot wholesale rates of sugar per quintal: Small grade: Rs 1,464/1,490, Medium grade: Rs 1,485/1,580.

Ex-mill small grade: Rs 1,440/1,460 and medium grade: Rs 1,470/1,520.

Infosys to invest Rs 500 crore in Kolkata

Kolkata, Apr 24(UNI) Infosys Technologies Ltd., the country's number two software service exporter, will invest Rs. 500 crore for a new development centre in Kolkata generating employment for about 5,000 people. Five live fuses recovered in south Kashmir

Srinagar, Apr 24 (UNI) Panic gripped a village in South Kashmir when five live fuses were found by local residents, official sources said. They said residents of Pahloo in the Anantnag district found five live fuses of Khandroo episode, which were lying in the village. People in the area were immediately shifted to safer places and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was informed about the presence of fuses. Later, the BDS defused the fuses without causing any damage......

ACC Q4 net stands at Rs 357.54 cr

New Delhi, Apr 24 (UNI) Cement maker ACC Ltd today said its net profit for the quarter ended March 2008 stood at Rs 357.54 crore, whereas it was at Rs 355.65 crore during the same quarter last year. The company, 41 per cent owned by Swiss cement maker Holcim, said in a statement that its total income for the quarter ended March 2008 rose to Rs 1,861.37 crore, as against Rs 1,728.46 crore in the.....
