Congress releases AP by-elections candidates list

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) The Congress has announced its candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha and assembly by-elections in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr A Indrakaran Reddy (Adilabad), Mr T Jeevan Reddy (Karimnagar) and Mrs Konda Surekha (Hanamkonda) are the candidates for the Lok Sabha by-elections.

The Party late last night announced 14 candidates for the assembly by-elections also.

Following is the list of candidates for assembly by-polls.

Dr Mallu Ravi (Jadcherla), Mr Gaddam Prasad Kumar (Vicarabad-SC), Ms Manemma Anjaiah (Musheerabad), Mr Vishnuvardhan Reddy (Khairatabad), Mr B Anjaiah (Siddipet), Mr B Manohar Rao (Dommat), Mr B Jardhan Goud (Yellareddy), Ms Akula Lalitha (Dichpalli), Mr Masram Nago Rao (Khanapur-ST), Mr Kethiri Sudarshan Reddy (Huzurabad), Mr Paripati Ravinder Reddy (Kamalapur), Ms Ponnala Vaishali (Cherial), Dr Thatikonda Rajaiah (Ghanpur-SC) and Mr Shaga Lazarus (Alair-SC).

Left urges govt to use IPI to further snub US

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) After attacking the UPA government on the nuclear deal and price rise fronts, the CPI(M) today fired another salvo against it when party senior leader Sitaram Yechury urged the government to give a befitting reply to the United States by speeding up the Iran-Pakistan-India(IPI) gas pipeline project. Baalu admits using position to secure gas for his companies

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) Rubbishing the allegations of pressurising officers, levelled against him in a news report today, Union Minister for Surface Transport T R Baalu today justified his action of using his position to secure gas supply to two chemical companies owned by him, saying the units involved 45,000 shares of the public. He categorically admitted that he put a word to the Petroleum Minister to secure 10,000 cubic mt gas from GAIL......

No decision on FTA with China without wide consultations: Govt

New Delhi, Apr 23 (UNI) Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jairam Ramesh today said no decision on establishing a free trade agreement with China would be taken without widespread consultations. In a reply in the Rajya Sabha during Question Hour, Mr Ramesh said that right now, an FTA with China was not a matter of priority. In reply to a supplmentary, the Minister said the Government's decision to have FTAs was in keeping with.....
