State-level Jr Chess tourney to be held from May 1 at Nashik

Nashik, Apr 22 (UNI) As many as 200 players from all over the state have enrolled to participate in the state-level Junior and Sub-junior Chess Tournament, to be held here from May 1.

The four-day tournament has been organised by Eklavya Chess Academy here after receiving approval from Maharashtra State Chess Association, Central Maharashtra Chess Association and Nashik District Chess Association.

The tournament will be held in four categories -- Under-9, Under-12, Under-15 and Under-19. The competition for Under-9 and Under-15 categories will be held on May 1-2, whereas for remaining two groups, it will be held on May 3-4.

Prize amount worth Rs 80,000 will be given to the winners and first 10 runners-up from each category will be awarded.

International Grandmaster Abhijeet Kunte will be the chief guest of the prize distribution ceremony to be held on May 4, the organisers said.
