Spl plan to train rural youths in BPO unveiled

Perambalur, Tamil Nadu, Apr 22: The Mahalir Thittam project in this district has unveiled a special plan to train youths in Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) related skills in association with Chennai-based IT company DesiCrew Solutions.

District Collector Anil Meshram, inaugurating the scheme here yesterday, said DesiCrew Solutions, a rural development oriented BPO company was providing employment opportunities in villages across eight centres in the state.

Stating that training was being imparted in basic data entry and telecalling work for insurance companies and corporate bodies, he said training in basic skills for the BPO industry would be given to rural youths who were from below poverty line (BPL).

The programme would stimulate the youth to be self-reliant and ensure development of growth-oriented community, he added.

Altogether 12 candidates from BPL families have been identified for the programme after a screening test and interview. The selected candidates would undergo training for four months and each of them would be given a daily stipend of Rs 25. Provision of placement opportunities to eligible candidates after successful completion of training was an added opportunity, he claimed.
