RJD puts Nitish govt in dock for ignoring interests of minorities

Patna, Apr 22 (UNI) The RJD today put the Nitish Kumar government in dock for its ''failure'' to improve the condition of the minorities in the state and alleged that the NDA government was misleading the people by presenting misleading figures in this connection.

Former Bihar Minister and senior party leader Shakeel Ahmad Khan told reporters here that despite tall claims, the Nitish Kumar government was doing virtually nothing for the uplift of the minorities in the state.

''The NDA government is playing in the lap of the RSS and it cannot do justice with the minorities,'' he stated.

He said the Centre had introduced a special scholarship scheme for the minority community students, who had passed the Matriculation examination, but students from Bihar could not get benefit from this scheme as the state government had ''failed'' to submit the application of such students in time.

The Centre had introduced schemes for providing coaching facilities to the students of the minority community, preparing for various competitive examinations, including those to be conducted for admission in IITs and IIMs.

Mr Khan warned that the RJD would not sit idle, if the Nitish Kumar government continued ignoring the interests of minorities and would be forced to launch agitation to pressurise the NDA government for protecting the minorities' interests.
